It was the Spring of 1961 and Del Shannon thought his crack at the big time was all but lost … until a re-write and re-record of his song My Little Runaway propelled him to the top of the US and UK Billboard charts with a #1 hit for weeks on end.
He’d made it, and strived forth with rock 'n' roll induced alcoholism for the most part of the 70’s and “competent but mundane country-rock” during the 80’s. But nothing compared to the Wah-Wah's of 1961.
Runaway by Del Shannon polled at number #466 of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and has been covered by revered artists such as the Small Faces, Elvis and The Beach Boys.
